Questions, answered.
Do my words leave my phone?
No. Your saved words stay on your device, and translation runs on-device too. If you turn on iCloud sync (Pro), your words sync through your own iCloud account.
Do I have to use AI?
No. AI is optional. Saving, translation, definitions and review all work without it. AI example sentences run on-device on iPhones with Apple Intelligence. Other iPhones get the built-in example sentences.
Which iPhones are supported?
Any iPhone running iOS 18 or later. AI example sentences need an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Translation happens on your iPhone, so you can save and translate words without an internet connection.
Which languages can I translate into?
Many, including Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Turkish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic and Indonesian. The full list will be published at launch. Choose your language in the waitlist form so we know what matters most.
What is free, and what is Pro?
Saving words, translation, definitions, review and export are free. Pro adds practice modes with your own words and iCloud sync. Pro will have a free trial, and we’ll remind you before it ends.
What happens to my email?
We use it only to tell you when Spotword launches, plus Pro launch pricing if you ticked that box. We never sell or share it, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
